So Far This Is The Best Year Ever!

Todd dressed up as Baby New Year. What a party animal.

Last year via Pinterest I started one of those memory jars. I tried really, really hard to remember to jot down family events as they occurred. I'm looking forward to sitting down with my family for a year in review.

What better way to start off the new year, than a pork and kraut dinner?
It's been a family tradition for as long as I can remember. My grandfather had a farm/butcher shop that was passed down to my uncle. They raised and butchered their own beef and made their own kraut.

Why start the year with pork? Because a pig will use it's snout to root for food forwards. It is believed to be good luck to move you forward into the new year not backwards like when a chicken or turkey scratches.

Look at that golden deliciousness, right there. This stuff is heads and tails tastier than the stuff in the bag, or the canned variety.

This year my uncle made 15 buckets at 5 gallons per bucket, that equals a whole lot of sauerkraut. last year they made 25 buckets, selling off the last of the kraut in October. This year they estimate selling out by March.

Cheers and Happy New Year!

"Honey, there is a beaver at the door..."

...and a wood duck dressed as a clown.
 The name's Silas.
Silas P. Beauregard

"Trick or treat!?"

 (knock,knock)

"Anybody home? Hello?"

"Trick or treat? Smell my feet. Give me something good to eat!"

Twizzlers, score!

"I can't reach the doorbell.
Knock, knock..."

"Smile for the camera. Say cheese"

"And here's a Tootsie Pop for you..."

"Yikes! Get up here Silas. You're a duck, not a chicken."

And then Todd discovered the joy of smashing pumpkins...

I Have The Sweetest Beaver

Yesterday marked the first ever Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness day. I belong to a couple of TN support groups requesting we wear teal to help raise awareness of this syndrome. The groups also suggested we post any photos showing the various ways we used the color teal. Some people arranged to have various bridges or monuments shed in teal lights for the night. Niagara Falls even turned teal to mark the day. My husband surprised me with a flower delivery to let me know he cared. The flowers were not teal, but I still love him for marking this day in some manner. I also had another family member that joined in to mark this day and help raise awareness.

Todd, the sweetest beaver ever, donned a teal ribbon to help raise awareness. I am the luckiest gal in the world to have such a loving beaver.

Did you happen to notice the card reads "Happy ATN. Love, Phil". What the? So does this mean he's actually happy that I have Atypical TN? I think I need to make my own husband "aware" I am not "happy" I have this horrible syndrome. He tried blaming the florist, but why would the florist be happy I'm in pain? I guess I shall choose to believe him this time.

Take time to stop and smell the roses, or in this case the daisies.

I wish you all many pain-free days.

Fins to the Left!

Todd is a little excited for this weekend to begin...

"Changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes...if we weren't all crazy we would go insane."

"It's like trying to reason with hurricane season"

"I gotta fly to St. Somewhere..."

"Drink it up, this one's for you. Honey, it's been a lovely cruise"

What does "shizzle" even mean?

Easter Beaver

Due to the sequestration cut backs, the Easter Bunny is no longer on the payroll. We have enlisted the help of another woodland creature to fulfill the duties performed by the Easter Bunny. We are grateful a volunteer has stepped forward to help. I present, Todd the Easter Beaver...

Todd is very excited for this new endeavor. His face says it all.

Children are drawn to Todd.

Beaver and Sasquatch living harmoniously.

Happy Beavster!

A Day Late

Happy St. Patrick's day!

Todd finally woke up after celebrating all day yesterday. Beavers are nocturnal animals. I think it had more to do with the green beer. I'm sure there was much Toddfoolery going on...I don't even want to know.

"Put this bag on your head"

Those were the words that came out of my husband's mouth, the night he gave me my birthday present. So there I sat, with a paper bag over my head wondering what in the heck he was giving me. What could he possibly have gotten me that would require me to wear a bag on my head? I mean, c'mon a bag...on my head...what the heck?  And then... "Remove the bag!"

There stood a stuffed beaver staring at me. It was love at first sight. I laughed like I've never laughed before. Usually I'm pretty good at figuring out what Hubs is planning. He got me good this time. The. Best. Birthday. Present. EVER!

"Trixie" and "The LargeMan" were here for the unveiling of my beaver. They had known about my gift way back at Christmas, when my Hubs started the planning.
Right away we set out to name the beaver. Many good, funny and innappropriate names were thrown into the ring. I liked Trixie's suggestion the best. It really "fit". And so I present to you... Todd.

I later came up with the full and proper name, Woodrow Von Munchausen III, but you can call him "Todd". Isn't he cute? When Hubs planned out the pose, he consulted "Betty" as to how the beaver should be posed. Then Hubs discussed the idea with Dan, the taxidermist (see more of his work here). Hubs asked for the beaver to be standing, and look as though he is "talking to you or giving a speech". Mission accomplished. Todd looks as though at any moment he is going to come to life and start talking. It's like I'm living in Narnia.

3 days after my birthday is Hubs birthday. I created a party outfit for Todd to wish Hubs Happy Birthday.

True would like to sink her teeth into Todd.

Up next, St. Patty's Todd...
